ALBATON, Iowa -- Duane Kendall Hunter, 80, of Albaton died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, with the Rev. Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Township Cemetery in Albaton. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Kendall was born May 9, 1922 in Albaton, the son of Reuben and Edith (Gerking) Hunter. He was the third child of nine. He attended country school and Sloan High School.

He married Mabel Irene Anderson on April 9, 1943 at Dakota City, Neb. At a young age, along with his brothers, he began farming near Albaton and continued farming there until his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of Skien Lutheran Church, Lakeport Gun Club, Sloan Community Recreation, Inc. and Midwest Men's Senior Golf Tournament. He also served on the Monona County Board of Review.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel; a daughter and her husband, Janice and Gerald Welsh of Mitchell, Neb.; three grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, David Jackson, of Bayaed, Neb, J.D. Cody Molle of Wheatland, Wyo., and Clayton and his wife, Cindy Molle, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Justin, Dustin and Natasha; a sister and her husband, Virginia and Everett Hackett of Bartelville, Okla.; five brothers and their wives, Donald and Jo, George and Jean, all of Sloan, Roger and Mary Ann of Sioux City, David of California and Lowell and Joyce of Falls Church, Va.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Clarence and Marlene Anderson of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law, Viola Anderson of Sioux City and Virginia Hunter of California and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lawrence and Eugene.
