Edna M. Arndt, 89, of Onawa, Iowa, died Sunday, November 6, 2005, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.

Edna was born December 14, 1915, at Blencoe, Iowa, the daughter of Herman John and Christena (Wiertz) Arndt. In 1934 she graduated from Blencoe High School.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa and the Altar Society.

Survivors include her niece, Julia Hittle of Salem, Oregon; 4 nephews, John Arndt of Castana, Iowa, Carl Arndt of Omaha, Nebraska, Maurice Arndt of Altoona, Iowa, and Michael Meils of El Paso, Texas; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; three sisters; a nephew, Richard Arndt; and a great-nephew, Johnny Arndt.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father Patrick O'Kane at St. John's Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 8. David Hausman was soloist and Mrs. Darrell Hewitt, organist, accompanied him as he sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Ave Maria". Honorary bearers were Mahlon Pekarek, Robert Miller, Ron Paseka, Ed Collison, Larry Ross, and Rusty Collison. Active bearers were John, Carl, Maurice, & Scott Arndy, Michael Meils and Roger Krohm. Burial was in the Onawa Cemetery. A scripture service was held on Monday, November 7 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel with Deacon Tom Morgan officiating.
