Ellen Jean Pierce, 79, Onawa, Iowa, died Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa. Ellen Jean was born February 24, 1926 at Herman, Nebraska, the daughter of John Henry and Ella Maude (Longcor) Pierce. She moved with her family to a farm south of Onawa, Iowa at the age of seven. Jean attended country school before attending Onawa High School.

She was a nurse’s aid at the Onawa Hospital and Elmwood Nursing Home and also was employed at Zenith in Sioux City.

She was a member of the seventh Day Adventist Church. Jean enjoyed traveling and found her love of driving helpful to those in need of transportation, often driving them around the Onawa area, Omaha and Sioux City.

Survivors include two sisters, Virginia Gries of Sioux City and Ella Pannell of Onawa, a brother and his wife, Niles and Amy Pierce of Burlington, WA., a sister-in-law, Margaret Pierce of Sioux City and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lyle.

Funeral services were 11:00 AM Friday, November 18, 2005 at Rush Family Chapel, Onawa with Pastor Jerry Tuiller officiating. Music selections were 'Th e Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset". Burial was in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation was 5:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Allan and Lee Goulette and Norman, Duane, David and Aaron Gries.
