Walter R. Cornell, 63, of Onawa, Iowa died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Evangelical Free Church in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Tim Koehn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Walter Robert Cornell was born September 8, 1955 in Attleboro, Massachusetts the son of Walter S. and Alice P. (Card) Cornell. He was raised in California and graduated from Escondido High School in 1973.

Walter and Ginger McAllen were united in marriage on June 14, 2003 in Yucca Valley, California.

Walter worked in quality control for machine shops in the aerospace industry. He also worked in the security industry.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Walter also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hiking, biking, and gold prospecting. He was an avid Star Trek and Star Wars fan.

Walter was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Onawa, Iowa where he served on the Deacon Board. He was also a member of Attica lodge No. 502 A.F. & A.M. of Sloan, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Ginger Cornell of Onawa, Iowa; daughter, Aprilmarie (John) Saffle of Onawa, Iowa; son, Eric (Kathryn) Cornell of Whiting, Iowa; step children, Jason Paull of Sacramento, California, Joanna Paull of Oakland, California, and Jeffrey (Halee) Paull of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Autumn (Jose) Nolasco, Caleb Brown, Haili Cornell, Breann Cornell, Anna Sutter, Alyssa Cornell, Isabella Saffle, and ZyZy Paull.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter S. and Alice P. (Card) Cornell; and his sister, Sandra Wagner.

Memorials in Walter’s memory may be directed to the Evangelical Free Church in Onawa, Iowa.
