Arlene H. Moltsau, 84, of Onawa, Iowa died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Marsha Smith, officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Arlene Helen was born April 9, 1934 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of Herman J. and Esther Lena (Stoll) Moltsau. She grew up in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School. She worked for a short time as a nurse’s aid at St. Luke’s Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa in the NICU with polio babies. Arlene furthered her education at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and received her teaching certificate. She taught third grade for seventeen years.

Arlene enjoyed fishing, watching alligator hunters on TV, flowers, puzzles, reading mystery books, buying antiques, and she especially found great interest in meeting new people and asking where their ancestors originated.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include her sister, Jeanette (Raymond) Sievers, of Onawa, IA; nephew, Jeff (Roxie) Sievers of Allen, NE; nieces, Patty (Duane Gosch) Washburn of Mapleton, IA, Pam (Harold) Groves of Onawa, IA, and Lisa (Joey) Dean of Little Falls, MN; many great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Esther Moltsau; one sister, Sadie Moltsau; and one brother, Tom Moltsau.
