27 September 2018Wayne Otto Ohlmeier, 81, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Wayne was born on Nov. 20, 1936, at home in Ute to Henry and Mahela (Kuester) Ohlmeier. He was welcomed home by his older brother, Wilfred.
Wayne was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Dec. 20, 1936, and later confirmed on April 2, 1950. He graduated from Ute High School in 1954 and enlisted in the National Guard in January of that same year.
On Jan. 19, 1958, Wayne married his beautiful wife, Joan Barnes. They were blessed with four children, Mike, Tammy, Todd, and Margaret. Wayne and Joan raised their children and worked on the family farm. He enjoyed feeding his cattle and found it rewarding to serve on the local co-op board for many years.
In 1989, Wayne and Joan retired from the farm and went on a few fun adventures. They wintered in Rock Port, Texas, and worked at a carnival and theme park in Park Rapid, Minn.
In the early 1990s, Wayne leased three semi-trucks from King Transfer in Onawa. Soon, he decided to drive his own truck. He often told stories of his trucking adventures and was proud that he saw every state in the Continental United States!
Wayne was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he loved to spend time with. He had a few hobbies, which included gardening, completing puzzles, and most of all, socializing with anyone he met.
Wayne leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Joan; son, Mike, and his wife, Jane, of Ricketts; daughter, Tammy, and husband, Lyle Bramley, of Ute; son, Todd, of Hamburg; son-in-law, John Wooster; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Henry and Mahela; his brother, Wilfred, and his cherished daughter, Margaret.
