Phyllis J. Fegenbush, 92, of Whiting, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, June 17, 2018, surrounded by her family and her dog, Gracie.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, U.C.C., in Whiting, with the Rev. Nea Stepp officiating. Burial will be in Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Phyllis J. Miller was born on Feb. 16, 1926, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of William and Jessie (Tyson) Miller. She was raised in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School in the class of 1944. She then worked at the Onawa hospital and for Boeing Airplanes in Omaha during the war.

Phyllis and Jules Fegenbush were united in marriage on Sept. 20, 1947, in Onawa. She was an active farm wife and took pride in caring for the livestock. She started working at Palmer Candy Company in 1967 and retired in 1988.

She was a member of First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Whiting and an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved working in her garden, dancing, bowling, and traveling with Jules. She enjoyed making everyone laugh, including being a clown in the Whiting 4th of July parade. The thing she enjoyed the most was time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Mark (Bonnie) Fegenbush of Whiting, Beck (Randy) Hunt of Hornick, Iowa, Patty (Dennis) Smith of Onawa, Chris (Deb) Fegenbush of Sioux City, and Dennis Fegenbush of Whiting; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Nellie Campbell, Wilma Johnson, and DyAnn (Harry) Struble.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Jules Fegenbush on Dec. 31, 2010; one daughter, Julie Fegenbush in 1980; one infant sister; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Margaret "Slim" and Chester "Cork" Wright; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Campbell and Herman Johnson.
