Gregory E. Mortensen, 54, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at his residence.

A funeral mass will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 21, 2018, at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, with Father Michael Erpelding celebrant. Burial will follow in Belvidere Cemetery in rural Turin. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Gregory Edward was born on August 18, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska, one of eight children born to Pete and Rosanne (Kaiser) Mortensen. He graduated from St. Cecelia's Cathedral in Omaha in 1981.
He worked as an IT specialist for Travelex Insurance Company in Omaha for the past 20 years. He received several IT certifications through Travelex.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa. He especially enjoyed his cats, which he referred to as his "little lambs."

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Pete and Fran Mortensen of Onawa, IA; siblings, Pete Jr. (Barbara) Mortensen of Mesa, AZ, Timothy (Mary Kay) Mortensen of Omaha, NE, Robert (Donna) Mortensen of Fremont, NE, Regina Mortensen of Onawa, IA, Janet Mortensen of Omaha, NE, Mary (Mitch) Ulrich of Omaha, NE, and Grace (Gary) Addy of Onawa, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosanne Mortensen.
