Native Onawa Passes Away At Hospital In Lincoln July 1

Funeral Services Were Held From the Congregational Church Here On Last Sunday – Rev. Croker Officiating

He Leaves Mother and Sister to Mourn His Death

Burt Rozella Pike, son of Joseph L. Pike, was born in Onawa, Iowa April 27th, 1880 and passed away on July 1, 1931 in a hospital at Lincoln, Nebraska where he had been for the last number of years. His illness took a turn for the worst 2 months ago which finally terminated in his death.

Burt united with the Congregational Church in Omaha when fourteen years of age, while living there with his mother.

While living with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Thurston, of Onawa he transferred his membership to the Congregational Church in this city.

Mr. Pike was a kindly nature loving his home, his friends and his church. He was an active member of the Christian Endeavor and the choir many years.

His last letter to his mother which was received in April contained the statement “God Bless you mother and all the Dear ones.

The editor had known Burt for many years, he was always interested in community affairs and for many years was a member of the Onawa band which he greatly enjoyed.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Kelly Wilson and half-sister, Mrs. Mildred Dutton and his aunt Mrs. May Talmage all of Pasadena, California, besides relatives and friends in Onawa and Omaha.

Funeral services were held in the Congregational Church in this city last Sunday afternoon.

Rev. G.H. Croker of Whiting conducted the services, Mrs. Rowles and Mrs. Kintigh sang two beautiful and comforting songs.

The body was in charge of the Brown Funeral Home and interment was made in the Onawa Cemetery.
