Henry Willis Custer who had suffered from a paralytic stroke and its effects for almost a year died suddenly at his home at Ticonic Iowa on October 5, 1927.

He had always been active and industrious and although he had not been a well man for twelve years and much of the time endured severe pain lie would not give up his active duties on the farm until last spring when they moved to town. Mr. Custer was highly respected and well known throughout this part of the state where he had lived for almost thirty-five years.

At an early age, he lost his mother and made his own way in the world, building character and laying aside a little property for old age and the care of his wife who now mourns his departure.

Mr. Custer was born near Hardin Shelby County, Iowa, on January 7th, 1862, and at the time of his death was 65 years, 8 months and 28 days of age. At the age, of 21 he was married to Amanda Horner. To this union, were born ten children, four of whom have preceded' him in death. They are Ira and Lloyd, who died in infancy an Mrs. Grace Ernst and Guy.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, three sons, three daughters and two stepchildren. They are as follows: Mrs. Amanda Custer, Ticonic, Iowa; Mrs. Cyntha Foster, Ida Grove Mrs. Nina Folz, Wayne Nebr; Mrs. Gladys Atkinson, Modesto California Earl Custer, Correctionville, Iowa George and Raymond Custer of Ticonic, Iowa; Mrs. H. C. Bridgeman, Orson, Iowa and Mrs. Bert Horner of Castana, Iowa. He also leaves one sister, six brothers, a number of grandchildren, and a host of sincere friends.

The funeral was held in the Methodist Episcopal church of Ticonic, Iowa October 1, 1927, and was one of the largest ever held from this church.; Rev. G. A. Tyler the pastor officiated and Mr. Willman of Rodney the mortician. Burial in Grant Township Cemetery.
