Mrs. Irene Hoffman, Moorhead, Iowa, died on November 19,1984, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa. Death came at the age of 85 years, seven months and 16 days.

The daughter of George W. and Laura Williams Fletcher, she was born at Decatur, Nebraska, on April 3, 1899. She spent her early years in the Albaton area near Sloan, Iowa. On December 20,1921, she was united in marriage to Wallace Hoffman at Onawa, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Moorhead and moved to Moorhead in 1972. Mr. Hoffman died January 16, 1975, at Onawa.

Irene was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Pisgah, Iowa, and a member of the Helping Hand Club at Moorhead. Her greatest enjoyment in recent years was the time she shared with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Ray Hoffman, of Moorhead; three daughters, Mrs. Merval (Virgie) Kennedy of Sioux City, la., and Mrs. Norman (June) Lee and Mrs. William (Sue) McGuire, both of Moorhead, la.; one sister, Mrs. Mae Godsey of Sloan, la., and 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21,1984, at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pisgah, Iowa, with Elder Wilbur Mann officiating. The organist was Mrs. Rex Hebb. Mrs. Charles Kratz accompanied soloist, Curt Cook, who sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "Savior Like A Shepherd Lead Us".

Casket bearers were Joe Lee, Dwight Evers, Bill McGuire, Jim Gran, Gary Cox, Paul Lease and Rod Mahlberg.

Interment was in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
