Sarah Rose (Delanty) Zamoon, 62, St. Paul, Minnesota, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2005 at her home in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Sarah Rose (Delanty) Zamoon was born July 11, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Teresa (Marley) Delanty. Sarah Rose resided over the years in the United States and Kuwait.

In 1960, she graduated from Onawa High School and in 1964 obtained her undergraduate degree from Briar Cliff College. In 1997, she received her master's degree from Iowa State University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

She met Ali Zamoon, whom she married May 23, 1969 in Dakota City, Nebraska.

While residing in Ankeny, Iowa, she was a member of Our Lady Of Our Immaculate Heart Catholic Church Funeral Choir.

During the 1991 Gulf Crisis, she was an Ambassador of Good Will between the United States and Kuwait.

With education being of very high importance, Sarah Rose taught students at various levels from elementary school to the university level in Iowa, Minnesota, and Kuwait.

Priorities in her life were God, the love of family, good friends, and her love for America. Much enjoyment was achieved in her life through helping family and friends who were in need, and caring for her two grandchildren, Aziz and Jennah.

Survivors include her husband, Ali Zamoon of Kuwait; children, Shariffah Zamoon of St. Paul, MN , Dr. Jamillah Zamoon of Kuwait, and Mona Zamoon of Kuwait and grandchildren, Aziz and Jennah, children of Shariffah. Her sisters, Mary Anne (Delanty) Sullivan and her husband Tony, Rita Delanty and Robert Root and Sheila (Delanty) Coyle, whom Sarah Rose "mothered" from 1967 to 1971. She is also survived by her overseas family members, Shariffah Akbar (Grandma Zamoon), Mohammed, Taiba, Sakeena, Fatinia, Zaineb, Rabab, and Yagoub, and many nieces, nephews,-cousins and friends on both sides of the ocean.

Sarah Rose was preceded in death by her brother, Danny; her father, Ray; her mother, Teresa; and her brother, Pat.

Visitation with the family present was Friday, July 8 from 4 to 8 PM with a Scriptural Prayer Service, Re-Membering, and recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at St. John's Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa. A funeral mass was 10:30 A M Saturday, July 9, 2005 at St. John's Catholic Church, Onawa with the Rev. Harry D. McAlpine, celebrant. Burial was in Onawa Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Holcomb Henry Boom Funeral Home of St. Paul and Rush Family Care Service of Onawa.

Pall Bearers were Tony Sullivan, David Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, Bobby O'Brien, Tim Coyle, and Mike Lage.

Honorary Pall Bearers were Teresa Mohabir, Sarah Delanty, Shelly Reynolds, Becky O'Brien, Brian Coyle, Nicki Hogan, and Kelly Coyle.
