LOCATION: Onawa, Iowa

Ellen W. Golden, 96, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Pastor Tim Koehn officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Ellen Winefred was born on April 5, 1921, in Malmo, NE, the daughter of Jacob Edward and Sarah (McCarter) Jackson.

Ellen grew up in Malmo, NE where she graduated from Malmo High School. She lived in California for one year until moving back to this area and settled near the Hornick, Iowa area and later to the Whiting, Iowa area. Ellen and Otto Hall were united in marriage in 1940. Ellen later married Bert Golden in 1973.

Ellen was a farm wife and loved all animals. She also loved music and had the special ability to play the piano by ear. Ellen loved to go dancing and spent many Saturday nights dancing in Onawa at the Eagle's Club. She was a past member of the Onawa Eagle's Club and the Castana Neighborly Pals. Ellen was also a
volunteer at Elmwood Care Centre.

Survivors include children, Fred Hall of Onawa, Iowa; Terry (Mai) Hall of Worthington, Ohio; Thomas (Lois) Hall of Norfolk, NE; and Ellen (Tim) Bennett of Omaha, NE; twenty grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; step-children; step grandchildren; step-great grandchildren; and step-great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Otto Hall and Bert Golden; one son, James Hall; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and James Peterson; one infant granddaughter, Carrie Hall; one great-great grandson, Jason Segebart; three brothers, Jacob, Fred and Clarence Jackson; one sister, Esther (Jackson) Dunlap; and special friend, Fred Yanak.
