Doris Irene Collett, Onawa, Iowa, died on February 16, 1984 at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa, following a brief illness. Death came at the age of 63 years, eight months and five days.

She was born at Blencoe, Iowa, on June 11, 1920, the daughter of Jerry and Hannah Shellenberger Hall. She was married to Donald J. Collett on March 24, 1946, in Onawa. The couple moved to Onawa in 1947. Mr. Collett died September 23, 1954, in Onawa.

She was the receptionist and bookkeeper for fourteen years for Sr. Stanley Anderson and Dr. Earl Gingles and then for twenty-three years for Dr. Leo Gaukel and Dr. Paul Wolpert all in Onawa.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational and of Queen Esther Chapter 222, OES in Onawa.

Survivors are her son, Michael of Onawa; five sisters, Mrs. William (Anna Mae) Jenkins of Austin, Minnesota; Mrs. Kenneth (Nellie) Rodgers and Mrs. Ernest (Eileen) Sick, both of Onawa and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Georgius of Denison and Mrs. Jay (Jane) Field of Council Bluffs and four brothers, Samuel and William Hall of Castana’ Clarence “Bud” Hall of Hubbard, Nebraska and James Hall of Amarillo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Margaret and two brothers, Glen and Junior.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 1984 at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Onawa, with Rev. Donald Stoll officiating. Mrs. Dennis McCarty, the organist, played “The Old Rugged Cross” and “You’ll Never walk Alone.”

Bearers were Larry Anderson, Leonard Stanislav, Gary Ellis, Orval Claus, Dan Turner and Philip Gaukel.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
