14 December 2006Lorraine M. Harding, 85, Whiting, Iowa died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at St. Joseph, MO.
Lorraine was born July 30, 1921 at McIntosh, MN, the daughter of Arley J. and Carrie (Hamre) Waugh. She attended school in Sioux Falls, SD. Her family moved to Onawa, Iowa when she was a child.
She married Alvin L. Harding March 21, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Anthon, Iowa, and later moved to Whiting, Iowa where their family established Harding Trucking. She worked at various restaurants during her life, and owned and operated the OK Cafe at Whiting.
Lorraine was a member of the Whiting Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge of Onawa.
Lorraine is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Dixie and Sonny Kelsheimer of Neosha, MO. and Carol Ann and Jack Seward of Marble Falls, TX; a son and his wife, Lyle and Barbara Harding of Whiting; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her parents, Arley and Came Waugh; step-father, Elmer Skinlow; four brothers, Jewell O., Gerald, Bernell, and Donald; one sister, Elmira Oldis; a grandson, Stacy and a granddaughter, Christy.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Whiting Christian Church at Whiting with Rusty Hedger minister officiating. Music selections were "When I Get To Where I Am Going" and solos, "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross" provided by Stacy Kaiser, soloist and Nancy Brenden, organist. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery at Whiting. Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Care Service, Onawa with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The family was present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Casket bearers were Scott Harding, Wayne Whiting, Craig Seward, Eric Blake, Mitchel Blake, William Roden, A.J. Roden, Larry Waugh, Kevin Archer, Bill Huber, Justin Huber, and Lance Eastman. Honorary bearers were all of Lorraine's grandchildren
