Funeral Services for Long Time Resident, 88 Years Old, Held WednesdayFuneral services for James Malada, 88 years old, and a longtime resident of Mapleton who passed away at his home in Mapleton Monday evening following a lingering illness, were held at the home on North Sixth street Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev Joseph Pickorsgill, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating.
Interment was in Mt. Hope cemetery under the direction of the Duschl Funeral home.
M. Thompson, John Etchison, Edmund Valentine, Theodore Schoen,¬ Jahn, Elmer, Henry and Joseph Koenigs served as pallbearers.
Mr. Malada was born September 18, 1848, in Washington county, New York. When a boy,4 years of age he came with his father to Indiana, his mother having died in his early years. He grew to manhood in Indiana and in 1882 was married to Miss Flora C. Dimmick.
In 1888 the family moved to Illinois and five years later came to Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Malada lived on the farm between Mapleton and Danbury known as the Ora Gage farm. They have made their home in Mapleton many years.
Mr. Malada is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Ed Armstrong of Mapleton, two grandchildren and two great -grandchildren.
