30 July 1964William Fredrick Cook, son of Wilhelmina and Henry Cook, was born at Charter Oak, Iowa on February 2, 1892, and died July 19, 1964 at a Sioux City Nursing Home following a long illness. He was 72 years, five months, and 17 days old.
Mr. Cook was one of a family of thirteen children. He came with his parents to the Mapleton community as a youth, and remained here until 1944, when he moved to Sioux City. He was a farmer, and later operated a restaurant in Mapleton. He, married Leottie Jones on March 2, 1912 at Danbury. Two daughters and five sons were born to this union.
Survivors include four sons, Edmund of Chicago, Illinois, Don of Tort Collins, Colo.; William and John of Mapleton; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Rosalie) Cameron of Spring Valley, Calif., Mrs. Ernest (Ruby) Avilar also of Spring Valley, Calif., five sisters, three brothers, 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services were held Wednesday, July 22, 1964 at the Walter funeral chapel with Rev. Earl Kurtz, pastor of the Methodist church at Danbury, officiating.
Pallbearers were: John Martin, Hans Jensen, Ted Uhl, Bill Babbe, Wilbur Dean, and John Wooster. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery at Mapleton under the direction of the Walter funeral home.
