Gary G. Zediker, 80, of Cushing, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center of Omaha, Neb.

Funeral Service: Saturday, Aug. 5, 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Cushing.

Officiating: Pastor Ron Rice.

Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery of Mapleton with military rites conducted by the American Legion F. Roger Baumann Post #624 of Cushing.

Visitation: Friday, Aug. 4, 5-9 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.

Gary G. Zediker was born June 26, 1937, to Maurice K. and Wanda A. (Cameron) Zediker. He was a graduate of Mapleton High School in 1955, then graduated from Wayne State University in Wayne, Neb., with a Bachelor of Science degree and an Master of Science degree in Industrial Arts. He was a member of the National Guard as an E-6 Sergeant.

Gary was united in marriage to his wife, Kay, on Sept. 3, 1961, in Correctionville. They were blessed to celebrate 55 years of marriage. To this union two children were born.

Through the years Gary worked at Wilson Trailer Co. in Sioux City, as a teacher at Central High School in Sioux City, and as an Insurance Claims Manager in Agriculture Farm Insurance. He lived near Mapleton until graduating and spending a year in Ames, then moved back to the Siouxland area until he was 30 years old. He then moved to several places such as Aurora, Colo.; Highland Ranch, Colo.; Santa Rosa, Calif.; Turlock, Calif.; Spokane, Wash.; and St. Joseph, Mo; before moving back to Cushing where he has been living for the past 16 years.

Gary is a member of the Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason of Landmark Lodge AF and AM of Sioux City, and Sioux City Consistory 32nd Degree. He was a member of the American Legion F. Roger Baumann Post #624 of Cushing and the Farm Bureau.

Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren and his winters with Kay in Arizona camping in his motor home. He was a member of the Single Action Shooting Society, a lifetime member of the NRA, in Model Airplane Flying Clubs, International Harvester Collectors, and Corvette Clubs. He enjoyed restoring old iron, antique tractor rides, car shows, and antique tractor shows with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Kay, of Cushing; daughter, Michele Zediker and husband, Craig, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; son, Brian Emmett Zediker of Richmond, Calif; brothers, Keith and wife, Donna Zediker, of Mapleton, and David and wife, Liane Zediker, of Meadview, Ariz.; grandchildren, Sean (Skye) Zediker of Twentynine Palms, Calif., Logan Zediker of Lakewood, Colo., and Morgan Zediker of Rock Springs, Wyo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Wanda.
