Nancy Heflin, a 1953 graduate of Moorhead High school, died in Glendale, CA on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. She was born in Onawa on May 2, 1935. She attended Iowa State Teachers College where she met her husband, Ken Heflin. The couple were married in Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead on August 14, 1955. They have lived in Boston, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii and California.

She taught at Charles River School in Dover, MA, at Waiokeola Preschool in Honolulu, HI, and at Castle High School in Kaneohe, HI.

She is survived by his husband, Dr. Kenneth Heflin, a retired United Methodist pastor, by four children and 7 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers gifts may be given to the Nancy Heflin Memorial Scholarship at the University of Northern Iowa. They should be marked Nancy Heflin scholarship and mailed to UNI Foundation, 205 Commons, Cedar Falls, Iowa 50614.
