Garry Albert Ellison was born on May 22, 1939, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Albert and Pearl (Stilwell) Ellison. He graduated from Lawton-Bronson High School, and attended two years of business school.

Garry married Sylvia Paul on September 12, 1961, in Onawa. To this union, two children were born: Cindy and Jeff.

What many will remember most about Garry ties back to his 57 years in the car business. He was passionate about his work, and woke each day excited to get started. He loved his cars, but loved his customers more.

Whether you met him on the lot or out in public, he would meet you with a kind smile, firm handshake, call you by name, ask about your family, inquire about your car, and reminisce about the ones in the past. He was a friend to all, and is now undoubtedly waiting to greet you on the car lot in the sky.
Although Garry's dedication to this work was extraordinary, it came second to God, his family, and closest friends. He enjoyed taking them on trips to Okoboji, the Black Hills, and out to eat. His personal hobbies included fishing and reading. Garry's love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends was abundant. He was never shy to show or tell them how extremely proud he was of them, and how much he loved them; even his cats got the best of him. Garry's faith in God grew stronger even as he became weaker. He was immensely grateful for his minister and church congregation.

Garry's joyous spirit will forever live within his family and all who loved him. He dedicated his life to those around him, teaching them the importance of a strong work ethic, generosity, genuine kindness, and love for God…undeniably, some of the greatest gifts of all.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sylvia Ellison of Onawa, IA; children, Cindy and Doug Kuhlmann of Onawa, IA and Jeff and Shari Ellison of Elkhorn, NE; grandchildren, Brooke Kuhlmann, Ben Kuhlmann and Julie Goeden, Lindsey and Ryan Ellison, and Patrick and Cheryl Cieslik; great-grandchildren, Addison Kuhlmann, Austin Cooper, and Caeden and Caileigh Cieslik; brother, Richard Ellison and special friend Phyllis Meyer of Lawton, IA; brother-in-law, Jim Paul of Blencoe, IA; sister-in-law, Georgia and Larry Taylor of Omaha, NE; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Pearl Ellison; his parents-in-law, Jess and Roma Paul; and one sister-in-law, Dawn Ellison.
