William "Bill" Kennedy, 76, of Onawa, Iowa died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Paul Malcomson, officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

William Ray Kennedy was born September 12, 1940 in Battle Creek, Iowa the son of Ray and Dorothy (Hanks) Kennedy.

Bill graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1960.

Bill and Judy Bolen were united in marriage in 1961. Two sons were born to this union, Steven and Michael.

Bill worked for the Chicago North Western Railroad as a signalman until his retirement. Bill also enjoyed working at Blue Lake near Onawa, Iowa with the Lewis and Clark Keelboat. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and trapping.

Bill was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa. He was also a member of the Friends of Discovery and Pheasants Forever.

Survivors include a son, Mike "Dog" (Christine) Kennedy of Onawa, IA; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brett) Gullord, Gunner Kennedy, Jennifer Kennedy, Derek (Shelby) Kennedy, and Shawna (Josh) Davis; great grandchildren, Aubrey Gullord, Conner Davis, Colin Davis, and Jaxson Kennedy; one brother, Duane (Gayette) Kennedy of Yankton, SD; nephews and nieces, David (Jenny) Kennedy and their daughter, Riley, Lara Kennedy and her son, Grayson, Jim Buser, and Deb (Dave) Nicholson; and a special family friend, Rob Jensen of Blencoe, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Dorothy (Hanks) Kennedy; infant twin sisters, Jane and Janet Kennedy; one son, Steven "Buck" Kennedy; one grandson, Nathaniel "Neno" Kennedy; and one great nephew, Colton Kennedy.
