28 December 2016Iris J. (King) Kuehl, 88, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away December 14, 2016 at the Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Deacon Joe Scurlock officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. A committal service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Onawa Cemetery in Onawa.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Iris Jeanette (King) Kuehl was born December 5, 1928 in Onawa, Iowa. She was one of eleven children and grew up in Onawa. She later lived in Happy Camp, California before moving to Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Iris spent many years as a stay at home mom caring for her family which was very important to her. She was a very compassionate person and loved to help and spend time with her extended family. Iris loved to learn and was a voracious reader. She firmly believed in the family history, past and present, and gathered information for both sides of her family to pass on to future generations.
Survivors include her children, Terry (Lee) Kuehl of Redding, CA, David Kuehl of Council Bluffs, IA, and Michael (Candy) Kuehl of Council Bluffs, IA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Walden of Grants Pass, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Kuehl; grandson, Michael; and her other siblings.
Iris' family thanks Bethany Lutheran Home staff and Hospice of Southwest Iowa staff for their kind and loving care.
