ONAWA, Iowa -- Kenneth L. Rodgers, 89, of Onawa died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Kenneth was born March 29, 1916, in Onawa, the son of Lawrence S. and Grace (Richardson) Rodgers. He was raised in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1933. He farmed most of his life in the Onawa area with the exception of when he served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He and Nellie Hall were united in marriage on May 13, 1952, in Omaha. She passed away April 11, 2004, in Sioux City.

He was a member of First Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time at the farm and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Rick and Michelle Rodgers of Sioux City; a grandson, Kyle Rodgers of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Rodgers of Sioux City; and three sisters, Evelyn Galles of Michawaka, Ind., Mardelle Holt of St. Louis, Mo., and June Geadelmann of Mapleton, Iowa.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Maurice Rodgers; and two sisters, Hazel Buchanan and Betty Reese.
