20 December 2016Mary Ann King, 82, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Mary Ann was born March 7, 1934 in Whiting, Iowa to Peter and Pearl (Huntley) Funkhouser. She moved with her family to Onawa, Iowa as a child and attended Onawa High School.
Mary and Lyle King were married April 16, 1955 in Onawa. To this union, six children were born.
She worked in the kitchen at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa and as the kitchen supervisor at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting. She also worked in the kitchen at CasinOmaha near Onawa for five years and at Janz Restaurant in Onawa for two years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include six children, Pam (Jack) Vail of Loveland, CO, Lyle "Butch" King, Jr. of California, Lila Heilman of Cedar Rapids, IA, Julie (Ronnie "Doc") Huntley of Onawa, IA, Terry (Karen) King of Onawa, IA, and Liz King of Onawa, IA; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Pearl Funkhouser; six brothers, Elliott, Edward, Donald, James, Marvin, and Peter "Jiggs" Funkhouser; two sisters, Betty Fowler and Lil Conyers; and one grandson.
