Ron L. Hinrickson, 66, of Onawa, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Harvey Hanson officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy, the David McNeill American Legion Post #129 of Onawa, and the Monona County VFW Post #2694. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Ronald Leroy was born August 27, 1950 in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Clyde Andrew and Maxine Elizabeth (Hanks) Hinrickson. He grew up on an acreage by Castana and graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1968. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served for two years.

Ron and Jolene Janell Nichols were united in marriage on July 23, 1972 in Onawa, Iowa.
He worked for the Chicago and North Western Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad Company for 29 years. He also held various jobs around the community.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors.

Survivors include two daughters, Penny Hinrickson of Onawa, IA and Kelly Jo Hinrickson of Muscatine, IA; three granddaughters, Desiree Hinrickson of Sioux City, IA, Jolene Crouch of Cherokee, IA, and Crystal Crouch of Sioux City, IA; two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Allison Peasley of Cherokee, IA; four siblings, Charles (Barbara) Hinrickson of Castana, IA, Maxine Shipley of Hastings, IA, Pearl (Richard) Baker of Wrangell, AK, and Ruby (Robert) Frank of Vermillion, SD; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Hinrickson of Tea, SD and Liz Walczak of Whiting, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Maxine Hinrickson; wife, Jolene Hinrickson on September 13, 1988; siblings, Lester Hinrickson, Andrew Hinrickson, and Mary Ann (Rueben) Schmidt; brother-in-law, Ronnie Shipley; and two sisters-in-law, Nevada Hinrickson and Peggy Hinrickson.
