CHARTER OAK, Iowa -- Wilfred H. Ohlmeier, 74, of Charter Oak died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Lexington Nursing Home in Aransas, Texas.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa, with the Rev. Ed Brandt officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Aaby Post 442 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5605, both of Ute. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Wilfred Henry Ohlmeier was born Dec. 26, 1932, in Ute, the son of Henry and Mahela Amanda (Kuester) Ohlmeier. He first attended country school. He later completed the seventh and eighth grades at the Lutheran School in Ute. He graduated from Ute High School in 1951. In August 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served his country for 28 years. He was honorably discharged in 1980, in Austin, Texas. He then worked for 7-11 for 18 years, retiring in 1998.

On Oct. 10, 1998, he married Marjorie Blades Dorale at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute.

He was an associate member of Faith Lutheran Church in Aransas Pass, Texas. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, where he was baptized on Feb. 5, 1933 and confirmed on March 30, 1947. He was a member of the American Legion Aaby Post 442, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5605 and the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 201 of Austin, Texas, where he served as secretary for 16 years.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; a son, Paul Ohlmeier of Nevada; four stepsons, David Klump of Texas, Rick Dorale of Anthon, Iowa, Ralph Dorale of Charter, Oak and Ray Dorale of Ute; four stepdaughters, Teresa Carpenter, Ann Klump and Michele Kuxhausen, all of Texas, and Ruth Moore of New Sharon, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Wayne and Joan Ohlmeier of Ute; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
