Mrs. William Riggs Is Dead

Died at her Home in Onawa on November 11, 1911

Catherine Bates was born December 8, 1833 in Indiana and was united in marriage to William Riggs January 1, 1853 in Muscatine, Iowa. To this union was born six children all of whom are living, Mrs. Van Dyk, Denver, Colorado; Lewis Riggs, Walthill, Nebraska; Mrs. Frank Hardy, Clark, S.D.; Grant Riggs, Albaton; Miss Alma Riggs, Onawa and William Riggs, Walthill, Nebraska.

Mr. and Mrs. Riggs came to Monona County in the fall of 1869 and lived many years in Lincoln Township.

Mrs. Riggs has been confined to her bed almost continuously for the last year. She was a women of quiet demeanor and was loved by all who knew her. Her death on Saturday came as a relief to bodily suffering of which she had been long afflicted. The funeral was held from the family home attended by many friends. There was a beautiful flower offering from the Onawa Rebekake.

Mr. Riggs and his family have the sympathy of many friends.
