ONAWA, Iowa -- Theresa Nickolaisen, 78, of Onawa died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Mike Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Theresa was born July 12, 1923, in Kennebec, Iowa, the daughter of James and Gertrude (Wilson) Shindler. She attended school in Onawa.

She was married to John Conway in January 1939, in Onawa. On Feb. 21, 1947, she was married to Max Nickolaisen in Onawa. She was employed with Cafe 75 and also operated Moss Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Max; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Bill Nielsen of Blair, Neb.; a son and his wife, Stephen and Kitty of Blencoe, Iowa; four grandchildren, Robert Randall Hardy, Robin Hope Tierney, and Jeremy and Tommy Sigler; six great-grandchildren, Robert R. Jr., Heather Nichole and Mitchell Hardy, Patrick Alan, Kaitlyn Ann and Bryan Robert Tierney; and three sisters, Virginia Lau of California, Doris of Glendale, Calif., and Betty Foster of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dave and Oren; and a sister, Hope.
