Joy Dell Allison, daughter of Edward and Olive Dell (Molle) Allison, was born September 29, 1922 in Blencoe, Iowa. She was raised with her sisters, Dora and Evelyn, in Blencoe. She attended country school there, and her sister, Dora, was her first teacher. She graduated from Blencoe High School.

Joy married Fred Jary on June 26, 1949 in Blencoe, where they lived until they made their home together in Whiting, Iowa, where they raised their four children, Aleta, Dennis, Jeanne, and Mark.

Joy was a humble servant, always rising to the challenge, accepting the opportunity, and never seeking recognition. She worked alongside her husband on the farm and in the gardens. She raised her children and served as Boy Scout Den Mother, 4-H Leader, and Sunday School Teacher.
Joy was a member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. of Whiting and served as Deaconess and with Women's Fellowship. She was a fifty year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Shortly before she passed, she completed crocheting her 100th lap robe for veterans at V.A. Hospitals. She was a Board member of the Monona County Historical Museum and served as Co-President.

Joy enjoyed gardening, crocheting, baking, playing cards and checkers, and reading. She could regularly be seen at church services, community events, school programs, dance recitals, ball games, and family gatherings. She did not seek to be the center of attention, but she loved to be in the center of the activity. She was strong and smart, caring and funny, loyal and sweet.

Blessed survivors include her children, Aleta Dell Jary of Sioux City, IA; Dennis Jary of Whiting, IA; Jeanne (Mitchell) Murphy of Omaha, NE; and Dr. Mark (Lynn) Jary of Grandville, MI; her grandchildren, Jens (Jennifer) Villebro, Kirsten Dell (Kevin) James, Alycia and Alexander Murphy, and Hannah, Andrew, Madeline, and Tessa Jary; and her great-grandchildren, Christina, Autumn, and Wyatt Villebro and Nevaeh Dell James; a sister-in-law, Mary Santora; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Olive Allison, and her husband, Fred Jary on June 12, 1991.

Memorials may be directed to the Monona County Historical Museum in Onawa, Iowa, Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa, or the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. of Whiting, Iowa, in Joy's honor.
