SIOUX CITY | JoAnn M. Glessner, 89, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Skien Lutheran Church, 1129 Aspen Ave., in rural Sloan, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

JoAnn was born on May 13, 1927, in Overly, N.D., the daughter of Clarence and Helen Rude. She grew up and graduated from high school in North Dakota.

JoAnn married John Glessner. They made their home in Pierre, S.D., where they farmed on a ranch. John died in 1976. After her retirement in the late 1980s, JoAnn moved to the Sioux City area to be near her family. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed going to the casinos.

Survivors include her three children, Hal (Emma) Glessner of Pierre, JoAnn (Brian) Bourguignon of Oceanside, Calf., and Connie (Jeff) Solien of Sloan; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Richard, Tom, Donny, and Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; four siblings; and a daughter, Vickie Glessner.
