Monona County Pioneer Dies

Mrs. Emily Jane Wilcoxon, 76, years old, a pioneer resident of Monona County, and for the last two years a resident of Sioux City, died at the home of her son, A.A. Wilcoxon, 1505 Silver Street, of complications of diseases. She had been ill only a short time.

Mrs. Wilcoxon was born in West Virginia in 1848. When a young girl she came to Iowa with her parents who settled in the vicinity of Whiting. The family was one of the first to settle permanently in that locality.

Two years ago she moved to Sioux City and since has made her home with children here.

Surviving her are two sons, A.A. Wilcoxon of Sioux City and C.F. Wilcoxon of Harris, Iowa and three daughters, Mrs. Ferris Schurdevin of Sioux City, Mrs. Viola E. Kelly of Wessington Springs, S.D. and Mrs. Fannie Johnson of Harley Falls, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be conducted at West’s Funeral Home at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Interment will be at Whiting, Iowa.
