25 March 1946Veteran’s Baby Dies on Day His Father’s Terminal Leave Ends
Blencoe, Iowa; Tragedy crossed the threshold of the home of Lt. Vernon C. Hanson, United States army, on the day his terminal leave ended and he became a civilian.
Early Sunday morning the Hansons’ 18-month-old son Ronald, born while the father was serving in the air corps in the southwest Pacific, became suddenly ill and was rushed to a physician’s office in Onawa, where he died in a few minutes. A physician said death was due to a heart attack. The baby was the Hansons’ only child.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist Church, Pisgah, Iowa, with burial in the Little Sioux, Iowa Cemetery.
