Ronald Arthur Nichols, 35, of Onawa, Iowa, died on August 4, 1986 in Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was born in Onawa on April 5, 1951, the son of Arthur LeRoy Nichols and Joyce Arlene (Carroll) Nichols. He attended Onawa High School and Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City. He married Beth Lampe on March 18, 1973, in Decatur, Nebraska. He was a refrigerator and air conditioning specialist and had been employed at Beane Plumbing and Heating in Sioux City for two years.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the David McNeill American Legion Post No. 129 in Onawa.

Survivors include his wife, Beth, of Onawa; a daughter, Mary Beth, of Onawa; two sons, Clint and Robert, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Joyce Nichols of Onawa; a brother, Dennis, of Sloan; three sisters, Mrs. Bud (Arlene) Huntley of Mapleton; Mrs. Ronald (Jolene) Hinrickson of Onawa and Mrs. Steven (Marlene) Haile of Omaha and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Carroll of Onawa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; two brothers, Robert Wayne and Franklin; and paternal grandparents.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 1986, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Rev. Jerry Quandt and Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist, Mrs. Vince Phillips, accompanied the soloist, Rev. Jerry Quandt, in the selection, “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.”

Bearers were Vernon Edris, Vernon Myers, Denny Mason, Larry Richardson, DeWayne Rasmussen and Gene Hightree.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with Military Services by David McNeill American Legion Post No. 129, Onawa, Orval Caldwell, Commander.

Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
