Esther O. Karsten, 91, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away March 24, 1986, in a local hospital.

She was born March 15, 1895, in Center Township, Iowa, to Lemuel (Bird) and Ida Euen McCrory Archer. On April 30, 1954, she married William H. Karsten at Eugene, Oregon. Mrs. Karsten had lived in the Roseburg area since 1978 moving there from the Albany area.

Survivors include her husband, William of Roseburg, one daughter, Opal Harpole of Roseburg, three stepsons, Melvin Karsten of Cornelius, Wash., Leroy Karsten of Sumner, Wash, and William H. Karsten Jr. of Eugene; one brother, Raymond Archer of Onawa, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 1986, at the Long and Shukle Memorial Chapel with Revend Ray Hinton of the Dillard-Winston United Methodist Church officiating.
