3 May 2007Frances L. Butters Bekehermes, 85, of Sioux City died Monday, April 30, 2007, at her residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Frances was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Mary (Brundridge) Cooper. She attended school in Des Moines.
She married William G. Butters on Sept. 19, 1936, in Des Moines. Together, they made their home in Dunlap, Whiting and Moville, Iowa, where they owned and operated Deluxe Cleaners. William died July 17, 1992. She later worked for Kalins, Younkers and Merle Norman Cosmetics. In 1994, she purchased Merle Norman Cosmetics and worked until her death. She married Joseph Bekehermes in July 1997. He died in July 2004.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed dressing up and going dancing.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances "Roberta" Copple Kelly of Whiting, Iowa, Norma and Vince Rago of Spokane, Wash., and Barbara "Cookie" and Lyle Harding of Whiting; two sons, Bill and Becky Butters of Moville, Iowa, and Jim and Paula Butters of Fort Collins, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Francis "Bud" and Edward "Buck"; and two half sisters, Jean and Theresa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Troy Butters; and three sisters, Lucille, LaVerna and Louise.
