Aileen Marie Meadows, 85, died April 30 in Ute.

Aileen was born on July 18, 1930, to Walter and Anna (Klaus) Amstein. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ute.

Aileen attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Parochial School until eighth grade. She continued her education at Ute High School, graduating with the class of ‘48. She was proud to say that she graduated in the top 6 of her class.

Aileen was married to Norman Meadows at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on May 7, 1950. To this union four children were born: Vickie Ann, Larry, Keith, and David.

Throughout her life, Aileen worked selling popcorn at Ute Star Theatre, babysitting, working at Milhollian Grocery Store, Sharp Cafe in Ute, and at Meadows Fertilizer and Occidental Chemical as secretary for 10 years. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and raising her three sons. One of her greatest accomplishments was teaching her father Braille.

She liked to go bowling. She loved camping and traveling with her family, making it to 47 different states (enjoying Hawaii the most), and attending as many of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities as she could.

Aileen enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino with the girls.
