Raymond E. Solberg, 79, of Elk Point, South Dakota, died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Solberg was born November 7, 1906, in Monona County, Iowa, and attended school in Moorhead, Iowa. He moved to Sioux City where he was employed as an International Harvester district sales manager. He married Agnes Vanvick September 5, 1931, in Sioux Falls. They made their home in Sioux City until 1936. They then lived in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, Evanston, Illinois and in 1946 they moved to Elk Point. He owned and operated an International Harvester dealership in Elk Point until 1965 when he retired. Mrs. Solberg died May 13, 1983.

Mr. Solberg was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple in Sioux City, Masonic Lodge 3 of Elk Point, Elk Point School Board and Elk Point City Council for a number of years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Kerin) Hankin of Laramie, Wyo., and Mrs. Rocklin (Judith) Quam of Elk Point; a brother, William of Denison, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Hollis Hamilton of Salix, Iowa; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Services in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point, the Rev. Marvin Ketterline officiated.

Burial was in Elk Point Cemetery. A prayer service was held in the Anderson Funeral Home.
