Carl L. Linden, 87, of Whiting, Iowa died Friday, April 22, 2016 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa due to congestive heart failure.

Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa with Evangelist Dale Wolf, officiating. Private family burial will be in the Whiting Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Emery Johnson Post #481 of Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Carl Leslie was born January 17, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Carl A. and Hattie L. (Bates) Linden. He attended school at Whiting and graduated from Whiting High School in 1946. He then furthered his education at Wayne State College and graduated in 1951. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953.

Carl and Nancy Ferris were united in marriage on December 29, 1951 at Vermillion, South Dakota. Four children were born to this union, Scott, Vance, Dev, and Cara.

Carl was a lifelong farmer in the Whiting area. He also helped his son, Vance, with his flying service.

Carl enjoyed motorcycle and snowmobile riding. He especially enjoyed being with his family.

Carl attended the Whiting Christian Church. He was a member of the American Legion Emery Johnson Post #481 for 62 years as well as the Weston Lodge #562 AF & AM both of Whiting, Iowa. He served on the Farm Bureau Board for several years.

Survivors include his wife of over 64 years, Nancy Linden of Whiting, IA; his children, Scott (Jan) Linden of Conesville, IA, Vance (Annette) Linden of Whiting, IA, Dev Linden of Casa Grande, AZ, and Cara (John) Hilgert of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Cody (Bryce) Riessen, Leslie Linden, Paige (fiancé Zach Keller) Linden, Reid Linden, Jack Hilgert, Caroline Hilgert, Alex Linden, and Sydney Linden; great-grandchildren, Ben, Dustin, and Kellie Riessen; and a sister-in-law, Dee Ferris of Glidden, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hattie Linden.
