Onawa, Iowa –Samuel C. Sloane, 85, a retired automobile salesman, died Saturday at his home after a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Pearson Funeral Home. The Rev. Ernest C. Biller of the Episcopal Church at Harlan, Iowa, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Mr. Sloane was born July 7, 1880, in Belfast, Ireland. He came to the United States at the age of one and was a resident of Onawa with the exception of the years from 1900 to 1919 when he lived in Sioux City.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors include the widow, Teresa; two sons, Carlyle S. of Sergeant Bluff and Samuel E. of West Point, Nebraska; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Traum of Sioux City; a brother, Thomas A. Grant of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
