Mapleton Press
30 January 1896

Charles Anderson, Sr. passed quietly and peacefully from this world of care into the great beyond, Saturday evening, January 25, 1896, at his home on Fourth Street. The immediate cause of his death was heart failure, brought on by dropsy and other complications from which he had suffered intensely for the past few weeks.

The deceased was born at Cappela, Germany in 1825, hence was 71 years of age. He was married in 1847 and immigrated to this country and located at Lyons this state where he spent several years in the mercantile business, moving to this county in 1885, and has since made Mapleton his home, loved and respected by all whose good fortune it befell to form his acquaintance.

The funeral services were conducted from the house Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock by Rev. E.S. Johnson and interred beside those of his beloved wife, who preceded him to Mt. Hope cemetery only a few short weeks.
