JOHN D. MURPHY DIES NEAR DECATUR NEBR.

John D. Murphy was born at Castle Connell, Tipperary County, Ireland May 22, 1863, and passed away at his home, four miles northwest of Decatur on Nov. 23 at 3 a. m. after an illness of two weeks.

He was married to Eva Gwyn at Onawa, Iowa, May 12th, 1887, and to this union nine children were born, seven of whom are living, Ed of Rosalie; Leo and Mrs. Florence Baker of Decatur, Mrs. Mary Stevens and Mrs. Margaret Ring of Walthill and Mrs. Josephine Nye and Mrs. Elmer Brewer of Sioux City, la. He moved to Monona County with his parents at the age of six years, where he resided until 1903 then he moved with his family to Decatur where he has since resided.

Besides his wife and children he also leaves to mourn his death two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Mustard of Onawa and Mrs. Katherine Cook of Bloomfield, Neb. and a brother Edward Tone of Council Bluffs, la. also twenty grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church on Friday morning and interment was made in Hill Crest cemetery.

Decatur Herald: Mr. Murphy was a brother of Mrs. A. D. Mustard of this city and is remembered by the older residents here.
