LOCATION: Moorhead, Iowa

William J. "Bill" Dunlop, 65, of Moorhead, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his residence following a lengthy illness surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Moorhead Christian Church in Moorhead, Iowa with Rev. Michael Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Rural Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

William Jay was born February 9, 1950 in Moorhead, Iowa, the son of Walter and Vivian (Lawrenson) Dunlop. He grew up in Moorhead where he attended school and graduated from East Monona High School in 1968. He then attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City, Iowa where he obtained a degree in refrigeration.

Bill and Shirley Koeppen were united in marriage on April 2, 1988 in Onawa, Iowa.

Bill owned and operated Dunlop Auto Service for several years and later owned and operated the storage units and car wash all in Moorhead, Iowa. He also drove school bus for East Monona and West Harrison schools.

He was a member of the Strollers Car Club and Vintage Wheels with the Shriners both from Sioux City, Iowa. He was also a member of the Vesper Lodge #223 AF & AM of Onawa where he was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Moorhead Christian Church where he had served as church board president. He was also a volunteer on the Moorhead Rescue Unit and Fire Department for over 25 years. He also served on the Moorhead City Council for several years.

Bill thoroughly enjoyed "cars, cars, cars", gas pumps, and antique car items. He loved Christmas time and giving gifts. He also enjoyed going to coffee every morning at the sale barn, "Ada Jay's" in Moorhead.

Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years, Shirley Dunlop of Moorhead, IA; six children, Robin Dunlop of Moorhead, IA, Sharon (Marvin) Hinrichsen of Moorhead, IA, Kevin (Lynette) Grindle of Carter Lake, IA, Dave (Marsha) Grindle of Dunlap, IA, Karla (Rick) Pellegrino of Phoenix, AZ, and Rodi Hanson of Sloan, IA; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Kaye) Dunlop of Sioux City, IA; one brother-in-law, Roger Topf of Nixa, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Vivian Dunlop, his granddaughter, Whitney Cloud, and his sister, Sandra Topf.
