Funeral services were conducted Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gettysburg, for Verna C. Nelson, 68, who died November 12 at Pike’s Peak Manor Nursing Home, Colorado Springs.

The Rev. Robert Jastram officiating and burial was at Gettysburg Cemetery.

Born November 13, 1907 in Onawa, Iowa, she lived there until 1923, when she moved to Chadron, Nebraska. After her marriage June 2, 1927 to Norvall Nelson, they lived in various places in Colorado and South Dakota. She also lived in Colorado and Florida with her children and in 1975, entered the nursing home.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Harold) Busby of Colorado Springs, and Diane (Mrs. Orb) Quame of Benson, Minnesota; a son, Donald Nelson of Tampa, Florida; two brothers, Ivan Olson of Los Angeles and Gordon Olson of Dallas; two sisters, Helen (Mrs. Howard) Kelley of Dallas and Leone (Mrs. Patrick) Phelbin of Dallas.

She also leaves seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Odin Shroyer, Ralph Von Wald, V.L. Klein, L.M. Samuelson, Albert Houck and Robert Houck. Arrangements were by Langslet Funeral Home.
