ONAWA, Iowa — Helen Bowman, 91, of Onawa died Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.

Mr. Bowman was born July 3, 1905, in Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Marion Wright and Nellie Maude (Champion) Dorothy. She moved to Montana, with her family, as a child.

She married Walter Richardson on May 4, 1927, in Billings, Mont. The couple owned and operated a restaurant and hotel in Forsyth, Mont., before moving to Onawa in 1929. He died June 11, 1943, in Hot Springs, S.D. She married George Bowman on July 15, 1946, in Sioux City. He died Dec. 30, 1986, in Omaha, Neb.

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Bill Hari of Little Sioux, Iowa and Virginia and Eldon Emmick of Clear Lake, Iowa; five sons, Kenneth and his wife Shirley, Keith, Charles and his wife Marilyn, Larry and his wife Jenette all of Onawa, and Guy and his wife Shirley of Whiting, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Irene Franklin of Sioux City, Kathryn Cooper of Yucaipa, Calif. and Georgine Mattas of San Diego, Cal.; two sisters, Nell Stahlinan of Mills City, Ore. and Ruth Howell of Sheridan, Wyo.; two brothers, Ted Dorothy of Sundance, Wyo. and Raymond Gale Dorothy of Mills City, Ore.; 25 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a son, Don; a stepson, George Jr.; two brothers, Emmett and Edward; two sisters, Grace Cosgrove and Arby Kelly; and three grandsons, Kelley, Bradley and Jay.
