ONAWA, Iowa — Fred N. Anderson Sr., 90, of Onawa died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997; at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in Onawa City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Anderson was born April 26, 1907, near Onawa, the son of Charles A. and Anna (Larson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. He graduated from Onawa High School in 1926.

He married Mary Lyola Anderson on July 21, 1934, in Blair, Neb. The couple made their home in Onawa. She died Sept. 6, 1980. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a postal carrier and window clerk with the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he farmed near Onawa.

He was a member of Vesper Lodge 223 A.F. & A.M., and the Queen Esther Chapter 222 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Onawa, the Sioux City Consistory and the Abu Bar Shrine Temple of Sioux City.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Fred and Bonnie of Sun City, Ariz. and Leo and Cindy of Roseville, Minn.; a daughter, Linda Lee of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren; a sister, Helen Prichard of Onawa; a brother and his wife, Park and June of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon; and two sisters, Nancy and Florence.
