Jim Robert Johnson, 61, of Onawa, Iowa died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at his home.

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor John Sears, officiating and assisted by Jack Gibler. Military Honors will be provided by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

James Robert Johnson was born October 27, 1952 in Onawa, Iowa the son of Robert M. and Helen A. (Smith) Johnson. Jim grew up in Onawa and graduated from West Monona High School in 1971.

Jim and Denise Kay Knudsen were united in marriage on September 6, 1973 in Onawa, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, William "Bill" and Sarah.

Jim was career military and retired from the United States Air Force. He enjoyed racing, golfing, fishing in Canada, and Wednesday nights at the Club. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Jim was a member of the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Kay Johnson of Onawa, Iowa; a son, Major William "Bill" Robert (Heather) Johnson of Niceville, Florida; daughter, Sarah Denise (Josh) Combs of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Bradley Johnson, Kowen Combs, and Jacob Johnson; brother, Tom Johnson of Ida Grove, Iowa; sister, Suzette (Wayne) Rudnick of Gray, Iowa; two nieces, Stacy Krayenhagen and Kimberly Conley; and nephew, Jeff Rudnick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen A. and Robert "Bob" Johnson; parents-in-law, Frederick "Bill" and Doris (Dunlop) Knudsen; sister-in-law, Pat Johnson; and niece, Sabrina Johnson.
