Shawn Allan Gosch, 47, of Onawa, died Friday, June 20, due to injuries sustained in a bicycle accident near Manson.

Shawn Allan was born Nov. 17, 1966, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Robert and Barbara (Jochims) Gosch. He was raised in the Mapleton area and graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1985. He then attended Morningside College in Sioux City where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He later received his Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He was a certified public accountant.

Shawn married Paige Pratt on Sept. 23, 1995. To this union he brought two children, Ashley and Alex, and gained another daughter, Ashley. Later two sons were born to this union, Logan and Keagan. They made their home in Moorhead for several years until recently moving to Onawa.

Shawn was employed as an accountant at Chestermans Bottling and Huisenga Henjes & Associates, both in Sioux City, and Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Nebraska in Omaha, Neb. He was currently serving as Chief Financial Officer at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Shawn was extremely active in both the Moorhead and Onawa communities, as well as at the state level. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead.

He enjoyed all sports in general but especially golf and bicycling. He was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in it.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Gosch; one son, Tyler Gosch; grandparents, Elmer and Pearl Jochims and Vernon and Ethel Gosch; sister-in-law, Pam Pratt; father-in-law, Bud Pratt; and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Paige Gosch of Onawa; his children, Ashley (Kyle) Hobbs of Mitchell, S.D., Ashley (Nate) Hausman of Whiting, Alex Gosch of Sioux City, Logan Gosch of Onawa, and Keagan Gosch of Onawa; one granddaughter, Nora Hobbs of Mitchell, S.D.; his father, Bob (JoAnn) Gosch of Smithland; one sister, Kim (Alan) Bushmann of Sac City; three brothers, Rusty (Amy) Gosch of Woodbine; Shane (Bri) Gosch of Omaha, Neb., and Steve Gosch of Omaha, Neb.; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great friends; and special pets, Toby, Smoky, Autumn, Lily.

Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 23, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead with Pastor Carla Johnsen, officiating. Music selections were “Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone” - solo, “How Great Thou Art” - congregational, and “On Eagle’s Wings” - congregational with Sam Johnson as soloist and Deb Lauritsen as organist.

Burial was in Spring Valley Cemetery, rural Moorhead.

Casket bearers were Chris Maher, Shawn Bellis, Cody Rush, Fran Tramp, Jeff Plautz, Brad DeLance, Jason Bockelmann, and Eric Bremers.

Honorary bearers were Ted Shank, Jeff Gray, Rusty Gosch, Shane Gosch, Steve Gosch, and Doug Thelander.

There has been a memorial fund established in memory of Shawn at Burgess Health Center.
