William "Bill" F. Richardson, 73, of Marengo, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford.

He was born in Onawa, Iowa on Jan. 14, 1932, to Hart and Mary (Hohnstein) Richardson. On July 20, 1957, he married Beverly Nihan at Sacred Heart Church in Marengo.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a Marengo tavern proprietor and a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Belvidere American Legion Post 77 and Harvard Moose Lodge 1289.

Survivors include his wife of Marengo; a daughter, Jill (Denny) Quick of Union; a son, William J. "Bodie" Richardson of Union; and six grandchildren, Brayden, Cole and Wesley Quick, and Megan, Zach and Molly Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathleen Richardson; a grandson, Andrew Richardson; six sisters; and five brothers.

The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Sacred Heart Church, 323 N. Taylor St., Marengo. The Rev. Richard Russo will officiate.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Marengo Little League, Marengo Junior Tackle or to the Marengo Rescue Squad.
