8 June 2014SIOUX CITY | Robert William Ibsgaard, 70, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Becker–Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Monday at the funeral home.
Robert was born March 18, 1944, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Anchor E. and Beulah M. (Slentz) Ibsgaard. He served in the U.S. Navy from March 3, 1962, until June 3, 1963. He was formerly employed as a diesel mechanic in Beto Junction, Kan., and at the Road Runner Truck Stop in Arizona.
He married Sandra Sue Fredrickson in 1968. She died March 8, 2013.
Survivors include a son, Robert Childers and his significant other, Stefine Naveja of Sioux City; two daughters, Theresa Ibsgaard and her significant other, Heather Mlejnek of Sioux City, and Janelle and her husband, Kent Fullen of Kansas; three sisters, Joan Sawyer of Whiting, Iowa, Betty Castle of Mapleton, Iowa, and Deanna Hill of Minneapolis, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Robert Childers Jr., Tayler Farley, Ryan Childers, Tianna Hamilton, Tasha Farley, Colton and Kaylyn Ibsgaard, Tyson Fullen and Alea Deal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, David; and a brother, Dwaine.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Childers, Theresa Ibsgaard, Bobby Childers Jr., Tianna Hamilton, John Vlahoulis and John Schrader
