30 April 2014Gary R. Holbrook, 76 of Onawa, Iowa died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.
Memorial Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with Charlie Mortensen, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by David McNeill American Legion Post #129 of Onawa, Iowa, and Monona County VFW Post #2694. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Gary Raymond was born April 16, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of John and Irene (Stevens) Holbrook. He was adopted by Edwin and Pearl (Brown) Holbrook.
Gary and Janet Ooten were married May 23, 1959 in Elk Point, SD. Janet passed away January 31, 2009. Gary married Sheila Bieler on May 25, 2011 at Onawa, Iowa.
He grew up in Onawa and graduated from the Onawa High School. Gary worked for Kind and Knox for thirty-three years.
Gary loved hunting, fishing, garage sales, and always loved a good joke.
Survivors include his wife Sheila of Onawa, IA; a son, Edwin (Lee) of Onawa, IA; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, John (Georgia) Holbrook of Bismark, ND; three sisters, Judy (Marvin) Skogen of Cartwright, ND, Patty (Roger) Darling of Rhame, ND, and Irene Schuchard of Harlowton, MT.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Janet; and a son, Timothy Holbrook.
